Responsible Gun Ownership and Safe Storage
The Brady Center's, Handgun Safety Guideline (HSG) is a great resource for law enforcement agencies when educating the public on Safe Storage and Responsible Gun Ownership.
The Law Enforcement Relations Department is dedicated and committed to working closely with law enforcement organizations throughout the country in order to implement programs that will reduce gun violence in communities across the nation. We have sent out tens of thousands of Handgun Safety Guidelines to law enforcement agencies throughout the country. Law enforcement agencies use our materials to help educate the community on the safe storage of firearms. LER provides the Handgun Safety Guidelines to law enforcement agencies "free of charge."
HSGs are designed to educate gun owners of the potential dangers of keeping a handgun in the home. Police and sheriff departments have been handing these out at community meeting and fairs for more than a decade. In some states, law enforcement officials provide a HSG with each permit to purchase a firearm. HSGs are used by a variety of law enforcement agencies; many include major metropolitan police departments, rural county sheriff's offices and small town police departments throughout America.
LER will send up to 500 Handgun Safety Guidelines to your department free of charge. To place an order, contact the Law Enforcement Relations office at (202) 289-7319.
